December/January

 December was busy with quarter testing and holiday preparation. Gingerbread houses, stories about gingerbread boys and girls, and making  gingerbread people were some of the activities.  Math, reading, and science studies had a holiday theme as well.

     In January our kindergarten will continue skills in letter identification/sounds, counting, writing and recognizing numbers to 100. They will increase there narrative writing skills through use of a journal. As the new year begins, students will contlinue to show grow in math computation, greater than and less than and problem solving.  We will continue learning about weather patterns in science, also.

     Activities of interest this month include learning about winter homes for animals, reading Jan Brett stories, learning Kansas State symbols, Kansas Day activities, including “bread in a bag”, 100th Day activities, and reading about Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream.
