April 2019
We are in the final stretch of the 2018-2019 school year! It’s been a busy year and we’ve accomplished many, many things. Hopefully spring has arrived and we can enjoy some warm temperatures for the remaining weeks of school.
Friday, April 19 Snow make-up day! We have a regular school day.
Saturday, April 20 Annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Greeley City Park at 10:00 a.m. Rain-out location is our Greeley Elementary gym. Sponsored by Lambda Beta sorority.
Sunday, April 21 Happy Easter!
Tuesday, April 23 Developmental Screening for Greeley Preschool. The purpose of this screening is to assess children, ages 3-5, in the areas of communication, (speech/language), cognition, motor, social, vision and hearing. The screening will indicate whether there is a need for further evaluation OR if your child qualifies as a peer model in the Greeley preschool program. If there is a need to further evaluate, parents will be contacted by the school psychologist. These services are offered at no charge to parents. Please call the psychologist’s office at 785-448-3073 to schedule an appointment. The screening will take place at Ray Meyer Gym in Garnett. Currently enrolled Pre-K students/parents do not need to attend this screening.
April 25-May 2 Scholastic Book Fair at Greeley Elementary. The Book Fair will be set up on Thursday, April 25th. It will be available for viewing the night of our Spring Program (April 30th) as a convenience to our families, however, parents/grandparents may stop into the school to look at the Book Fair on any of the days from April 25-May 2. This is a great opportunity to purchase wonderful books at a low price.
Thursday, April 25 Field Trip for 3rd/4th Grades. Mrs. Hennessey’s class will travel to Topeka to enjoy the Brown vs Board Museum and the Topeka Zoo. There is no charge for the museum but there is a fee for the zoo. We currently have 15 people attending and the cost is $4.00 per person, HOWEVER, if we have fewer than 15 people that day- the price goes up so it’s very important that you contact the school asap if you signed up for the field trip but cannot attend that day! We ask that no siblings attend the field trip. PTO will cover the entry fee for the students but adults are responsible for their own fee. Questions? Please call the school office at 785-867-3460.
Monday, April 29 Students and staff will take a bus at 8:30 a.m. to Garnett Elementary to hear author, Priscilla Howe.
Tuesday, April 30 Spring Program; Fine Arts Night; Book Fair. We invite families and friends to enjoy an evening of Arts. Mrs. Powls will present the Spring Program. Our K-6th graders have been working hard, practicing a lot, and will perform many wonderful musical selections. Please have your child clean and neat and in their seat by 6:45 p.m. Casual, but nice, attire is requested and please do not allow your child to wear old jeans with holes in them. We will have original student art work on display and available for bidding. The Scholastic Book Fair will also be set up. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. Silent bidding on artwork: 6:00-6:45 p.m. Concert: 7:00 p.m. Bid winners will be announced following the concert. We hope to see you there!
