    Greeley Wildcat News

        October 2020

Happy Fall!  Cooler air has arrived and the leaves are beginning to fall from the trees.  Though much has changed for 2020….its nice that our seasons stay consistent.

This October will look much different from years past, but we ARE finding ways to schedule some important events and fun activities! Please read on for what we are planning and how the plans will be carried out this year.

Flu Vaccination Clinic:  Tuesday, October 6th.   The AN Co. Health Dept. will be at our school to give flu vaccinations to students and staff.  Consent forms went home in September.  If parents/guardians have not contacted the health dept., your child will not be able to get a flu shot at school.  Questions?   Call the Health Department at  785-448-6559.

Community Flu Vaccination Clinic:  Tuesday, October 20th.   9:00 to 10:00 a.m.  Berea Hall (United Methodist Hall) in Greeley.  The AN Co. Health Dept will give flu shots to local citizens.  Bring your insurance card, wear a mask.  No appointment needed.

Picture Re-Takes:  Wednesday, October 7th.   Inter-State Studios will be at the school to take pictures of any students who were absent on the original picture day or would like a re-take.  Please contact the school office if you need re-takes.

Greeley “Pumpkin Farm” Friday, October 16th      RE-SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23RD.   New this year….K-6th graders will have an opportunity to go on a hay-rack ride, choose a pumpkin, enjoy a few activities, a snack, and have their photo taken..…all in our own school yard.  We will continue to social distance and go to each activity by class.  Pumpkins will be purchased by our Greeley PTO.  The fun begins after lunch (around noon).  Unfortunately, parents may not attend.  We will take pictures and many will be posted on our webpage and of course printed in the 2020-21 yearbook.  A rain-date will be scheduled if needed.

Greeley Pride Assembly  Wednesday, Oct. 21 @ 2:30 p.m.   Awards and recognition will be presented to students for the first quarter of the school year.  Parents may not attend this year’s Pride Assemblies, however, we are looking into recording it and posting it. Parent/Teacher Conferences Thursday, Oct. 22 and Tues. Oct. 27th  Please stay tuned for the final plan for conferences!  Please watch for info in backpacks!

We will NOT be having the Halloween Carnival this year.

Halloween Parade Friday, October 29th       Students may wear costumes to school or they may bring costumes to school and put them on for the parade.  All costumes must be simple and easy for them to put on by themselves or with little help.  Make-up and props should not be part of the costume for the school day.  Due to safety policies regarding Covid-19, we will not parade to the local businesses.  Instead, at 2:00 p.m. students will parade around the school parking lot in their costumes.  Classroom parties will begin following the parade.   Parents may not attend the parade or parties.     Click this link to watch our parade!     https://fb.watch/1Gs37STddq/

Halloween Parties  Friday, October 29th.    Parties will begin following the parade.  This year, we ask that each student contribute $2.00 to be put toward treats and drinks that the school will purchase.  No treats, drinks, etc should be sent from home.  Please send the $2.00 per child to the school office or your child’s teacher by Friday, October 23rd .

Friday, October 30th.    NO SCHOOL

We understand that the changes we’ve had to make due to Covid-19 are a  disappointment for parents and guardians.  We know you’d like to be present for all the exciting things October holds at school (and every month!).  We are trying to find new ways for the children to have fun while still staying safe. We are looking into trying to stream, zoom or record what we can and post it for family viewing.  We will let families know when this is an option.

We appreciate your understanding and please know that our school staff also looks forward to the day we can go back to inviting parents and relatives to enjoy the fun and memories!
